RESUMEN

Las revistas científicas más importantes en campos como medicina, biología y sociología publican reiteradamente artículos y editoriales denunciando que un gran porcentaje de médicos no entiende los conceptos básicos del análisis estadístico, lo que favorece el riesgo de cometer errores al interpretar los datos, los hace más vulnerables frente a informaciones falsas y reduce la eficacia de la investigación. Este problema se extiende a lo largo de toda su carrera profesional y se debe, en gran parte, a una enseñanza deficiente en estadística que es común en países desarrollados. En palabras de H. Halle y S. Krauss, ‘el 90% de los profesores universitarios alemanes que usan con asiduidad el valor de p de los test no entiende lo que mide ese valor’. Es importante destacar que los razonamientos básicos del análisis estadístico son similares a los que realizamos en nuestra vida cotidiana y que comprender los conceptos básicos del análisis estadístico no requiere conocimiento matemático alguno. En contra de lo que muchos investigadores creen, el valor de p del test no es un ‘índice matemático’ que nos permita concluir claramente si, por ejemplo, un fármaco es más efectivo que el placebo. El valor de p del test es simplemente un porcentaje.(AU)


Abstract. Leading scientific journals in fields such as medicine, biology and sociology repeatedly publish articles and editorials claiming that a large percentage of doctors do not understand the basics of statistical analysis, which increases the risk of errors in interpreting data, makes them more vulnerable to misinformation and reduces the effectiveness of research. This problem extends throughout their careers and is largely due to the poor training they receive in statistics – a problem that is common in developed countries. As stated by H. Halle and S. Krauss, ‘90% of German university lecturers who regularly use the p-value in tests do not understand what that value actually measures’. It is important to note that the basic reasoning of statistical analysis is similar to what we do in our daily lives and that understanding the basic concepts of statistical analysis does not require any knowledge of mathematics. Contrary to what many researchers believe, the p-value of the test is not a ‘mathematical index’ that allows us to clearly conclude whether, for example, a drug is more effective than a placebo. The p-value of the test is simply a percentage.(AU)

RESUMEN

Identifying genuine polymorphic variants is a significant challenge in sequence data analysis, although detecting low-frequency variants in sequence data is essential for estimating demographic parameters and investigating genetic processes, such as selection, within populations. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are multinucleate organisms, in which individual nuclei collectively operate as a population, and the extent of genetic variation across nuclei has long been an area of scientific interest. In this study, we investigated the patterns of polymorphism discovery and the alternate allele frequency distribution by comparing polymorphism discovery in 2 distinct genomic sequence datasets of the AM fungus model species, Rhizophagus irregularis strain DAOM197198. The 2 datasets used in this study are publicly available and were generated either from pooled spores and hyphae or amplified single nuclei from a single spore. We also estimated the intraorganismal variation within the DAOM197198 strain. Our results showed that the 2 datasets exhibited different frequency patterns for discovered variants. The whole-organism dataset showed a distribution spanning low-, intermediate-, and high-frequency variants, whereas the single-nucleus dataset predominantly featured low-frequency variants with smaller proportions in intermediate and high frequencies. Furthermore, single nucleotide polymorphism density estimates within both the whole organism and individual nuclei confirmed the low intraorganismal variation of the DAOM197198 strain and that most variants are rare. Our study highlights the methodological challenges associated with detecting low-frequency variants in AM fungal whole-genome sequence data and demonstrates that alternate alleles can be reliably identified in single nuclei of AM fungi.

Apis mellifera was used as a model species for ecotoxicological testing. In the present study, we tested the effects of acetone (0.1% in feed), a solvent commonly used to dissolve pesticides, on bees exposed at different developmental stages (larval and/or adult). Moreover, we explored the potential effect of in vitro larval rearing, a commonly used technique for accurately monitoring worker exposure at the larval stage, by combining acetone exposure and treatment conditions (in vitro larval rearing vs. in vivo larval rearing). We then analyzed the life-history traits of the experimental bees using radio frequency identification technology over three sessions (May, June, and August) to assess the potential seasonal dependence of the solvent effects. Our results highlight the substantial influence of in vitro larval rearing on the life cycle of bees, with a 47.7% decrease in life span, a decrease of 0.9 days in the age at first exit, an increase of 57.3% in the loss rate at first exit, and a decrease of 40.6% in foraging tenure. We did not observe any effect of exposure to acetone at the larval stage on the capacities of bees reared in vitro. Conversely, acetone exposure at the adult stage reduced the bee life span by 21.8% to 60%, decreased the age at first exit by 1.12 to 4.34 days, and reduced the foraging tenure by 30% to 37.7%. Interestingly, we found a significant effect of season on acetone exposure, suggesting that interference with the life-history traits of honey bees is dependent on season. These findings suggest improved integration of long-term monitoring for assessing sublethal responses in bees following exposure to chemicals during both the larval and adult stages. Far-field laser technology has greatly promoted the progress of nondestructive ultrasonic imaging of bulk structures. However, under thermoelastic excitation, the body waves exhibit a relatively low signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in images with low resolution and contrast. Based on the motivation, this paper developed a frequency-domain phase weighted imaging method to improve the quality of laser ultrasonic defect imaging. Firstly, laser ultrasonic scanning was performed on the sample with artificial transverse hole defects. The cylindrical lens focused line source was used to improve the intensity of the body wave signals, and ensure that there was no damage on the material surface under high laser energies. Then, the frequency-domain phase shift migration (PSM) algorithm was used to perform multimode imaging of defects, achieving frequency-domain synthetic aperture focusing technique (F-SAFT) and total focused method (F-TFM) imaging based on full matrix capture. Furthermore, the phase circular statistical vector (PCSV) was proposed for weighted optimization, which improved the image quality, suppressed the background noise and multimode artifacts. Finally, the imaging quality of several algorithms were discussed. The results indicate that frequency-domain images were superior to time-domain results. After phase weighting, the imaging quality can be further improved, and the detection blind zone was significantly reduced. This work will contribute to the rapid and high-quality defect imaging of laser ultrasonic.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the correlation between hip joint musculoskeletal ultrasound score and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) disease activity, as well as to investigate the value of high frequency ultrasound in the assessment of hip joint involvement in AS. METHODS: The clinical data of 244 patients with AS who were treated in the rheumatology department of from March 2019 to March 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, there 174 males and 70 females, aged from 19 to 58 years old with an average of (34.22±9.49) years old;the disease duration of AS patients ranged from 8 months to 26 years, with an average of (13.68±4.04) years.The 244 patients were divided into disease group (83 cases) and control group (161 cases) based in the presence of hip joint involuement. According to the the disease activity, patients in the disease group were further categorezed into active phase (45 cases) and stable phase (38 cases). The ultrasound scores of patients in the active and stable phases of the disease group and the control group were compared. Relevant factors of hip joint involvement in AS patients were analyzed, and analyze the correlation between ultrasound score and Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity score index(BASDAI), Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BASFI), visual analogue score of pain (VAS), C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and the correlation between hip joint capsule score and tendon attachment end score and BASDAI, BASFI, VAS, CRP and ESR. RESULTS: The hip joint capsule score(3.06±1.12), femoral head score(1.45±0.43), tendon attachment end score(3.28±1.30) and total ultrasound score(6.65±2.31) of the disease group were higher than those of the control group(1.51±0.48)、(0.66±0.27)、(1.61±0.53)、(3.81±1.44)scores (P<0.05). Multifactor Logstic regression analysis showed that the course of disease, hip joint capsule score and total ultrasound score were independent risk factors for hip involvement in AS patients.The hip capsule score (3.65±1.22)and total ultrasound score(8.28±2.33) in the active phase of the disease group were higher than those in the stable phase (2.48±1.04)、( 6.82±1.96)scores(P<0.05). The hip joint capsule score and total ultrasonic score of AS patients were positively correlated with BASDAI, BASFI, VAS, CRP, and ESR (P<0.05, P<0.01).The score of tendon attachment end was positively correlated with CRP (P<0.05). The score of joint capsule effusion in AS patients was positively correlated with BASDAI, BASFI and VAS (P<0.05, P<0.01). The synovial blood flow score was positively correlated with BASDAI, VAS, CRP and ESR (P<0.05, P<0.01). The synovial thickening score was positively correlated with BASDAI, BASFI, VAS, CRP and ESR (P<0.05, P<0.01). There was no correlation between the score of tendon attachment end and BASDAI, BASFI, VAS, CRP and ESR. CONCLUSION: There is a correlation between hip joint ultrasonic score of hip joint and clinical indexes in AS patients.Hip joint capsule score and total ultrasonic score were independent risk factors for hip involvement in AS patients. High frequency ultrasound exhibits clinical value in the diagnosis of hip joint involvement in AS patients.

Taking gas and the heat transfer process between gas and plate as the research object, the mathematical model of heat transfer in one working cycle by moving variable temperature air mass under the action of sound field is established, which provides a new idea for understanding thermoacoustic effect. The influence factors in the model are analyzed and it is found that the amplitude of the air mass has a significant influence on the heat transfer, and the heat transfer of the air mass in one working cycle is proportional to the square of the amplitude. In a certain working environment, the thermoacoustic refrigerator has a critical operating frequency, and only when the operating frequency is greater than the critical frequency can refrigeration be realized. The critical operating frequency is independent of the amplitude and increases with the increase of the stack temperature gradient. With the pressure belly point as the reference position, the greater the distance from the reference position, the greater the critical operating frequency. On this basis, the idea of short plate overlapping is put forward and the formation mechanism of temperature difference between two ends of plate overlapping is explained.

The data set describes variables collected from a French (N 48.84°, E 1.95°) field trial, over a twelve-year period (2009-2020), in which four innovative cropping systems designed to reach multiple environmental and production goals were assessed. The four cropping systems were designed with new combinations of agricultural practices; they differed in terms of pesticide uses, nitrogen inputs, tillage practices, and crop sequences. Both biotic and abiotic variables were measured. In a previous data paper, we focused on nitrogen fluxes collected from two systems, over eight years (2009-2016). In the present one, we enlarge the scope of the variables, including more crop descriptions and environmental indicators, from all four systems, and over a longer period (2009-2020). The biotic data are: growth stages; aboveground plant nitrogen content and biomass collected at different growth stages, depending on the species; yield components of all the crops; and yield harvested with a combine machine. No weed, crop disease, and pest data are described. The abiotic data are physical and chemical properties of the soil (i.e. texture, calcium carbonate content, pH, organic carbon contents, and nitrogen contents) collected at different assessment periods. All agricultural practices, and climate were regularly recorded, and the treatment frequency indexes and the energy consumptions were computed. These data could be used for benchmarking, to design low-input systems, to improve models for parameterization and validation, and to increase the predictive accuracy of models of crop growth and development, specifically for orphan species such as linseed, faba bean or hemp, and for soil carbon and soil nitrogen fluxes in various conditions.

BACKGROUND: Culex pipiens pallens and Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus are the dominant species of Culex mosquitoes in China and important disease vectors. Long-term use of insecticides can cause mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (vgsc) gene of mosquitoes, but little is known about the current status and evolutionary origins of vgsc gene in different geographic populations. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the current status of vgsc genes in Cx. p. pallens and Cx. p. quinquefasciatus in China and to investigate the evolutionary inheritance of neighboring downstream introns of the vgsc gene to determine the impact of insecticides on long-term evolution. METHODS: Sampling was conducted from July to September 2021 in representative habitats of 22 provincial-level administrative divisions in China. Genomic DNA was extracted from 1308 mosquitoes, the IIS6 fragment of the vgsc gene on the nerve cell membrane was amplified using polymerase chain reaction, and the sequence was used to evaluate allele frequency and knockdown resistance (kdr) frequency. MEGA 11 was used to construct neighbor-joining (NJ) tree. PopART was used to build a TCS network. RESULTS: There were 6 alleles and 6 genotypes at the L1014 locus, which included the wild-type alleles TTA/L and CTA/L and the mutant alleles TTT/F, TTC/F, TCT/S and TCA/S. The geographic populations with a kdr frequency less than 20.00% were mainly concentrated in the regions north of 38° N, and the geographic populations with a kdr frequency greater than 80.00% were concentrated in the regions south of 30° N. kdr frequency increased with decreasing latitude. And within the same latitude, the frequency of kdr in large cities is relatively high. Mutations were correlated with the number of introns. The mutant allele TCA/S has only one intron, the mutant allele TTT/F has three introns, and the wild-type allele TTA/L has 17 introns. CONCLUSIONS: Cx. p. pallens and Cx. p. quinquefasciatus have developed resistance to insecticides in most regions of China. The neighboring downstream introns of the vgsc gene gradually decreased to one intron with the mutation of the vgsc gene. Mutations may originate from multiple mutation events rather than from a single origin, and populations lacking mutations may be genetically isolated.

Motivation: Under contemporary market conditions in China, the stock index has been volatile and highly reflect trends in the coronavirus pandemic, but rare scientific research has been conducted to model the possible nonlinear relations between the two indicators. Added, on the advent that covid-related news in one time period impacts the stock market in another period, time delay can be an equally good predictor of the stock index but rarely investigated. Objectives: To contribute to filling the gaps identified in existing research, this study models relationship between the stock market index and coronavirus pandemic by leveraging volatility in the stock market and covid data through time delay and best degree in a polynomial environment. The resultant optimal time delay and best degree model is used to derive a high-accuracy prediction of stock market index. Novelty: In line with the possible relations, the novelty of this study is that it proposes, validates and implements polynomial regression with time delay to model nonlinear relationship between the stock index and covid. Methods: This study utilizes high-frequency data from January 2020 to the first week of July 2022 to model the nonlinear relationship between the stock index, new covid cases and time delay under polynomial regression environment. Findings: The empirical results show that time delay and new covid cases, when modelled in a polynomial environment with optimal degree and delay, do present better representation of the nonlinear relationship such predictors have with stock index for China. Relative to results from the polynomial regression without delay, the empirical evidence from the model with delay show that an optimal time delay of 17 weeks makes it possible to predict the stock index at high accuracy and record improvements of 16-fold or higher. The representative delay model is used to project for up to 17 weeks for future trends in the stock index. Implication: The implication of the findings herein is that the prowess of the time delay polynomial regression is heavily dependent on instability in covid-related time trends and that researchers and decision-makers should consider modeling to cover for the unsteadiness in coronavirus cases to achieve better results.

BACKGROUND: Mode of delivery in women with previous history of cesarean delivery (CD) is highly modifiable by the practices of the delivery unit. Vaginal birth after a cesarean (VBAC) delivery is a safe and preferred alternative in most cases. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of adopting a complex set of measures aimed at the mode of delivery in this group. METHODS: This was a retrospective observational study comparing two birth cohorts before and after the implementation of a series of quality improvement (QI) interventions. The study cohorts comprised women with a history of cesarean delivery who gave birth in the period before (January 2013 - December 2015) and after (January 2018 - December 2020) the adoption of the QI measures. The measures were focused on singleton term cephalic pregnancies with a low transverse incision in the uterus. Measures included approval of all planned CDs by a senior obstetrician, re-training staff on the use of the FIGO classification for intrapartum fetal cardiotocogram, establishing VBAC management guidelines, encouraging epidural analgesia during trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), establishing a labor ward team and introducing a monthly maternity audit. RESULTS: Term singleton cephalic pregnancies with previous history of CD accounted for 12.55% of all births in the pre-intervention period and 12.01% in the post-intervention period. The frequency of cesarean deliveries decreased from 89.94% in the pre-intervention period to 64.47% in the post-intervention period (p < 0.0001). We observed a significant increase in TOLAC from 13.18 to 42.12% (p<0.0001) and also an increase in successful VBAC from 76.27 to 84.35% (p < 0.0001). All changes occurred without statistically significant change in overall perinatal mortality. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates the feasibility to safely increase trial of labor and vaginal birth after cesarean delivery by implementing a series of quality improvement interventions and clinical pathway changes.

Research on attentional selection of stimulus features has yielded seemingly contradictory results. On the one hand, many experiments in humans and animals have observed a "global" facilitation of attended features across the entire visual field, even when spatial attention is focused on a single location. On the other hand, several event-related potential studies in humans reported that attended features are enhanced at the attended location only. The present experiment demonstrates that these conflicting results can be explained by differences in the timing of attentional allocation inside and outside the spatial focus of attention. Participants attended to fields of either red or blue randomly moving dots on either the left or right side of fixation with the task of detecting brief coherent motion targets. Recordings of steady-state visual evoked potentials elicited by the flickering stimuli allowed concurrent measurement of the time course of feature-selective attention in visual cortex on both the attended and the unattended sides. The onset of feature-selective attentional modulation on the attended side occurred around 150 ms earlier than on the unattended side. This finding that feature-selective attention is not spatially global from the outset but extends to unattended locations after a temporal delay resolves previous contradictions between studies finding global versus hierarchical selection of features and provides insight into the fundamental relationship between feature-based and location-based (spatial) attention mechanisms.

This article presents a parametrized response model that enhances the limit of detection (LOD) of piezoelectrically driven microcantilever (PD-MC) based gas sensors by accounting for the adsorption-induced variations in elastic properties of the functionalization layer (binder) and the nonlinear motional dynamics of the PD-MC. The developed model is demonstrated for quantifying cadaverine, a volatile biogenic diamine whose concentration is used to assess the freshness of meat. At low concentrations of cadaverine, an increase in the resonance frequency is observed, contrary to the expected reduction due to mass added by adsorption. The study explores the variations in the elastic modulus vis-à-vis the adsorbed mass of cadaverine and derives the resonance frequency to the adsorbed mass response function. We advance a blended technique involving the analysis of atomic force microscopy (AFM) force-distance (f-d) curves and fitting of the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) impedance response spectrum to deduce the adsorption-induced changes in the viscoelastic properties of the functionalization layer. The findings obtained are subsequently employed in modeling the response function for a structurally nonhomogenous PD-MC, highlighting the significance of the functionalization layer to the global elastic properties. The structural composition of the PD-MC beam adopted herein features a trapezoidal base hosting the actuating piezoelectric stratum and a rectangular free end with a functionalization layer. The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory coupled with Hamilton's principle is used to develop the equation of motion, which is subsequently discretized into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations via Galerkin expansion, and the solutions to the first fundamental mode of vibration are determined using the method of multiple scales. The obtained solutions provide a basis for deducing the nonlinear response function model to the adsorbed mass. The derived model is validated by recorded resonance frequency changes resulting from exposure to known concentrations of cadaverine. We demonstrate that the increase in resonance frequency for low concentrations of cadaverine is due to the dominance of the variation of the elastic modulus of the functionalization layer originating from the initial binder-analyte interactions over damping due to added mass. It is concluded that the developed nonlinear response function model can reliably be used to quantify the cadaverine concentration at low concentrations with an elevated Limit of Detection.

Trace eyeblink conditioning (TEBC) has been widely used to study associative learning in both animals and humans. In this paradigm, conditioned responses (CRs) to conditioned stimuli (CS) serve as a measure for retrieving learned associations between the CS and the unconditioned stimuli (US) within a trial. Memory consolidation, that is, learning over time, can be quantified as an increase in the proportion of CRs across training sessions. However, how hippocampal oscillations differentiate between successful memory retrieval within a session and consolidation across TEBC training sessions remains unknown. To address this question, we recorded local field potentials (LFPs) from the rat dorsal hippocampus during TEBC and investigated hippocampal oscillation dynamics associated with these two functions. We show that transient broadband responses to the CS were correlated with memory consolidation, as indexed by an increase in CRs across TEBC sessions. In contrast, induced alpha (8-10 Hz) and beta (16-20 Hz) band responses were correlated with the successful retrieval of the CS-US association within a session, as indexed by the difference in trials with and without CR.

Primate visual cortex exhibits key organizational principles: cortical magnification, eccentricity-dependent receptive field size and spatial frequency tuning as well as radial bias. We provide compelling evidence that these principles arise from the interplay of the non-uniform distribution of retinal ganglion cells, and a quasi-uniform convergence rate from the retina to the cortex. We show that convolutional neural networks outfitted with a retinal sampling layer, which resamples images according to retinal ganglion cell density, develop these organizational principles. Surprisingly, our results indicate that radial bias is spatial-frequency dependent and only manifests for high spatial frequencies. For low spatial frequencies, the bias shifts towards orthogonal orientations. These findings introduce a novel hypothesis about the origin of radial bias. Quasi-uniform convergence limits the range of spatial frequencies (in retinal space) that can be resolved, while retinal sampling determines the spatial frequency content throughout the retina.

The ABO system is an essential blood group in clinical transfusion medicine implicated in several human diseases. The ABO system has been investigated for over a century, with various studies exploring potential links to disease susceptibility. The study examines the possible relationship between leukemia and the distribution and the ABO blood group system discrepancy. A comprehensive review was conducted on the recommended databases to review the ABO blood groups, their association with leukemia, and the expected changes in blood groups among leukemia patients. The study highlights different kinds of leukemia, such as acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), their characteristics, and their relationship with ABO blood groups. The document concludes that studying ABO blood group distributions among leukemia patients showed that the most common blood group in acute leukemia is the A group, while in chronic leukemia, the O group is predominant; more studies are required. This study also confirmed an association between leukemia and ABO blood group discrepancy.

Maintaining a power balance between generation and demand is generally acknowledged as being essential to maintaining a system frequency within reasonable bounds. This is especially important for linked renewable-based hybrid power systems (HPS), where disruptions are more likely to occur. This paper suggests a prominent modified "Fractional order-proportional-integral with double derivative (FOPIDD2) controller" as an innovative HPS controller in order to navigate these obstacles. The recommended control approach has been validated in power systems including wind, reheat thermal, solar, and hydro generating, as well as capacitive energy storage and electric vehicle. The improved controller's performance is evaluated by comparing it to regular FOPID, PID, and PIDD2 controllers. Furthermore, the gains of the newly structured FOPIDD2 controller are optimized using a newly intended algorithm terms as squid game optimizer (SGO). The controller's performance is compared to benchmarks such as the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) and jellyfish search optimization. By comparing performance characteristics such as maximum frequency undershoot/overshoot, and steadying time, the SGO-FOPIDD2 controller outperforms the other techniques. The suggested SGO optimized FOPIDD2 controller was analyzed and validated for its ability to withstand the influence of power system parameter uncertainties under various loading scenarios and situations. Without any complicated design, the results show that the new controller can work steadily and regulate frequency with an appropriate controller coefficient.

BACKGROUND: Distinguishing untreated major depressive disorder without medication (MDD) from schizophrenia with depressed mood (SZDM) poses a clinical challenge. This study aims to investigate differences in fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) and cognition in untreated MDD and SZDM patients. METHODS: The study included 42 untreated MDD cases, 30 SZDM patients, and 46 healthy controls (HC). Cognitive assessment utilized the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS). Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scans were conducted, and data were processed using fALFF in slow-4 and slow-5 bands. RESULTS: Significant fALFF changes were observed in four brain regions across MDD, SZDM, and HC groups for both slow-4 and slow-5 fALFF. Compared to SZDM, the MDD group showed increased slow-5 fALFF in the right gyrus rectus (RGR). Relative to HC, SZDM exhibited decreased slow-5 fALFF in the left gyrus rectus (LGR) and increased slow-5 fALFF in the right putamen. Changes in slow-5 fALFF in both RGR and LGR were negatively correlated with RBANS scores. No significant correlations were found between remaining fALFF (slow-4 and slow-5 bands) and RBANS scores in MDD or SZDM groups. CONCLUSIONS: Alterations in slow-5 fALFF in RGR may serve as potential biomarkers for distinguishing MDD from SZDM, providing preliminary insights into the neural mechanisms of cognitive function in schizophrenia.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with target-oriented rehabilitation therapy and single low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation therapy on postoperative neurological improvement in patients with radial nerve injury and humeral condylar fracture. Methods: A total of 88 patients with humeral condyle fracture and radial nerve injury admitted to our hospital from April 2019 to January 2022 were randomly divided into a combined group and a control group, with 44 patients in each group. The patients in the combined group received low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with target-oriented rehabilitation therapy, while those in the control group received low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation therapy. The recovery rate of radial nerve function, the recovery of finger extensor and wrist extensor muscle strength, and the occurrence of postoperative complications were evaluated in all patients. Results: After treatment, the recovery rate in the combined group (77.27%) was higher than that in the control group (50.00%) (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in finger extensor and wrist extensor muscle strength before treatment between the two groups (p > 0.05). After treatment, both groups showed improvement compared to before treatment (p < 0.05), and the recovery in the combined group was better than that in the control group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in MCV and amplitude before treatment between the two groups (p > 0.05). After treatment, both groups showed improvement compared to before treatment (p < 0.05), and the recovery in the combined group was better than that in the control group (p < 0.05). The fracture healing time in the combined group was shorter than that in the control group (p < 0.05). During the treatment period, there was one case of infection and one case of joint pain in the combined group, with a complication rate of 4.55%. In the control group, there was one case of infection and two cases of joint pain, with a complication rate of 6.82%. There was no significant difference in the complication rate between the two groups (p > 0.05). The DHI score in the combined group was better than that in the control group (p < 0.05). The ESCA score in the combined group was better than that in the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with target-oriented rehabilitation therapy can promote muscle strength and functional recovery after radial nerve injury, accelerate fracture healing time, and no additional risk of complications. With the development of generative model, the cost of facial manipulation and forgery is becoming lower and lower. Fraudulent data has brought numerous hidden threats in politics, privacy, and cybersecurity. Although many methods of face forgery detection focus on the learning of high frequency forgery traces and achieve promising performance, these methods usually learn features in spatial and frequency independently. In order to combine the information of the two domains, a combined spatial and frequency dual stream network is proposed for face forgery detection. Concretely, a cross self-attention (CSA) module is designed to improve frequency feature interaction and fusion at different scales. Moreover, to augment the semantic and contextual information, frequency guided spatial feature extraction module is proposed to extract and reconstruct the spatial information. These two modules deeply mine the forgery traces via a dual-stream collaborative network. Through comprehensive experiments on different datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method for both within and cross datasets.

Background: Hepatolenticular degeneration [Wilson disease (WD)] is an autosomal recessive metabolic disease characterized by copper metabolism disorder. Cognitive impairment is a key neuropsychiatric symptom of WD. At present, there is no effective treatment for WD-related cognitive impairment. Methods: In this study, high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) was used to treat WD-related cognitive impairment, and inverse probability weighting of propensity scores was used to correct for confounding factors. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT), Boston Naming Test (BNT), Clock Drawing Test (CDT) and Trail Making Test (TMT) were used to evaluate overall cognition and specific cognitive domains. Results: The MMSE, MoCA and CDT scores after treatment were significantly different from those before treatment (MMSE: before adjustment: OR = 1.404, 95% CI: 1.271-1.537; after adjustment: OR = 1.381, 95% CI: 1.265-1.497, p < 0.001; MoCA: before adjustment: OR = 1.306, 95% CI: 1.122-1.490; after adjustment: OR = 1.286, 95% CI: 1.104; AVLT: OR = 1.161, 95% CI: 1.074-1.248; after adjustment: OR = 1.145, 95% CI: 1.068-1.222, p < 0.05; CDT: OR = 1.524, 95% CI: 1.303-1.745; after adjustment: OR = 1.518, 95% CI: 1.294-1.742, p < 0.001). The BNT and TMT scores after adjustment were not significantly different from those before adjustment (BNT: before adjustment: OR = 1.048, 95% CI: 0.877-1.219; after adjustment: OR = 1.026, 95% CI: 0.863-1.189, p > 0.05; TMT: before adjustment: OR = 0.816, 95% CI: 1.122-1.490; after adjustment: OR = 0.791, 95% CI: 0.406-1.176, p > 0.05). Conclusion: High-frequency rTMS can effectively improve cognitive impairment, especially memory and visuospatial ability, in WD patients. The incidence of side effects is low, and the safety is good.
